How we research, write and update the guides on this site.
Who writes these guides
Guides are researched and written by the Prepper Metals editorial team. We are not financial advisors, tax professionals or attorneys, and we don't own, buy or sell precious metals for readers. Our job is to explain how things work in plain English.
How we research
- We rely on primary sources wherever possible: IRS publications and the tax code, the U.S. Mint, the FDIC, the CFTC and LBMA price data.
- Fact-heavy pages list their sources at the bottom.
- We don't make price predictions, promise returns or give individual advice.
- Past price data is always labeled as past, with the reminder that it doesn't predict future results.
Affiliate relationships
Some companies pay us when readers contact them through our links. Partner content is clearly labeled "Affiliate partner," and descriptions of partner companies come from those companies' own approved materials. Partners don't write or approve our educational guides, and we list partner companies alphabetically rather than ranking them. See our affiliate disclosure.
Updates and corrections
Every guide shows when it was last updated. Price history is refreshed once a year when full-year data is published. If you spot an error, email hello@preppermetals.com and we'll review it promptly.
